Use the property on your live website

Campaignly needs the Google Analytics 4 property that measures your live website. Many businesses have more than one property. Access on the wrong property is a common reason the data never shows up.

Invite Campaignly on the property that owns the measurement ID on your website. That ID looks like G-XXXXXXXXXX.

Need to create an account first?

If you do not have a Google Analytics property yet, create the account, property, and web data stream, then come back here to send the invite.

What you'll need

  • Administrator on that property (only an Administrator can add users)
  • The measurement ID from the live site
  • The Campaignly email we sent you, from your Campaignly onboarding message

Confirm the measurement ID

  1. Sign in to Google Analytics.
  2. Use the property selector and open the property you believe is live.
  3. Click Admin.
  4. Under Property, open Data streams.
  5. Open the web stream for your website.
  6. Copy the Measurement ID (G-…).
  7. Compare it with the ID on your live website, or with the ID Campaignly already confirmed with you.

If the IDs differ, switch properties and check the web stream again before you send the invite.

Invite Campaignly

  1. Stay in Admin on the property whose measurement ID matches the live site.
  2. Under Property, click Property access management. Add the user on this property. Account-level access shares every property in the account, which is broader than this step needs.
  3. Click the plus button, then Add users.
  4. Enter the email address in your Campaignly onboarding message.
  5. Turn on Notify new users by email.
  6. Choose a role:
    • Analyst — preferred. Campaignly can view reports and use shared explorations.
    • Viewer — the minimum. Campaignly can view reports and settings.
  7. Click Add.

Editor and Administrator are more access than a standard onboarding invite needs.

If something looks wrong

Property access management is missing. Your role on this property is below Administrator. Ask an Administrator to add the onboarding email as Analyst.

The numbers still look like the wrong site. The user was added on a different property than the one with the live G- ID. Add them on the matching property. An Administrator can remove the user from the other property in that property’s access management page.

Google’s own steps are in Add, edit, and delete Analytics users.
