What the Audit Checks

Campaignly's audit scans your campaigns for missing or misconfigured tracking, analytics, and ad account connections. When issues are found, you'll see them flagged in your campaign dashboard. Fixing them ensures your data flows correctly and your reports are accurate.

The audit focuses on three areas: tracking pixels, Google Analytics 4 integration, and ad platform setup (Google Ads, Meta, etc.).

Tracking Pixel Issues

Missing or Inactive Pixels

The problem: You haven't added a tracking pixel to your campaign, or the pixel isn't firing.

How to fix it:

  1. Open your campaign and go to Settings > Tracking.
  2. Select the platform you're using (Google Ads, Meta, TikTok, etc.).
  3. Paste your pixel ID. Make sure you're copying the full ID — partial IDs won't work.
  4. If you already have a pixel added, test it by clicking Test Pixel. Campaignly will fire a test conversion to verify it's working.
  5. Wait 2–3 minutes, then refresh your audit. Pixels sometimes take a moment to activate.

Wrong Pixel Type

You've added a pixel, but it's configured for the wrong event. For example, you added a purchase pixel to a lead generation campaign.

How to fix it:

  1. Go to Settings > Tracking and check the Event Type dropdown.
  2. Match it to what you're actually tracking — lead, purchase, page view, etc.
  3. Save and re-run the audit.

Note: Different platforms use different event names. Meta calls them "events," Google Ads calls them "conversions." The audit tells you what's expected.

GA4 Connection Issues

GA4 Not Connected

Your campaign has no link to Google Analytics 4, so conversion data won't sync.

How to fix it:

  1. Go to Settings > Analytics.
  2. Click Connect Google Analytics 4.
  3. Sign in with the Google account that owns your GA4 property.
  4. Select the correct GA4 property from the dropdown.
  5. Choose which conversion events to track (e.g., purchase, signup).
  6. Save and wait 1–2 hours for data to start flowing. GA4 connection syncs are sometimes delayed.

Connected but No Data Flowing

The connection is active, but Campaignly isn't receiving conversion data.

How to fix it:

  1. In GA4, verify your conversion events are set up and receiving data. Go to Admin > Conversions and check if your conversion is marked as active.
  2. In Campaignly, go to Settings > Analytics and click Reauthorize to refresh the connection.
  3. Check that your GA4 property and Campaignly account are in the same Google Cloud project (this is rare, but worth verifying with your analytics admin).

Ad Account Setup Issues

Missing Ad Account Connection

You haven't linked your Google Ads or Meta account to Campaignly.

How to fix it:

  1. Go to Settings > Ad Accounts.
  2. Click + Add Account and choose your platform.
  3. Sign in and grant Campaignly permission to access your account.
  4. Select the account you want to connect.
  5. Save. The connection takes 5–10 minutes to activate.

Insufficient Permissions

Your connected ad account doesn't have the right access level.

How to fix it:

  1. In your ad platform's settings (Google Ads Manager or Meta Ads Manager), verify your user role has Editor or Admin access.
  2. If you don't, ask the account owner to upgrade your permissions.
  3. Disconnect and reconnect the account in Campaignly to sync the new permissions.

Re-Running the Audit

After you've made changes, manually re-run the audit:

  1. Open your campaign.
  2. Click the Audit tab.
  3. Click Re-run Audit.

The audit checks are fast — usually done within 30 seconds. Some issues (like pixel fires) may take a few minutes to show as resolved.
